MKE Runs is proud to partner with and support the Wings of Glory youth track program for a second year. When looking for a charity partner for TosaFest 5K, we wanted to find an organization that was working within the field of running while also benefiting underprivileged communities in the Milwaukee area. The nonprofit Wings of Glory was the perfect fit.
Coaches Eric Brown and James Malone provide a nurturing but high-caliber environment for young people ages 5 to 18 to learn the sport of track and field and grow to reach their potential. They emphasize work ethics, personal commitment and the importance of setting goals as they help their athletes improve their physical and mental health and overall well-being. Their values-based approach has shown impressive results as the team competes at meets in the Milwaukee area and across the Midwest.
The team’s biggest expense is its travel to the annual AAU Junior Olympics, being held this year in Greensboro, North Carolina. MKE Runs was happy to contribute $1,000 after TosaFest 5K 2018 to offset some of those travel costs, and we hope to match or increase that support in 2019.
