MKE Runs is an event management and online marketing team devoted to serving the running community in Milwaukee and around Wisconsin.
Why? Because we love running here! We're not out to make a lot of money or duplicate what other race directors are doing. When there is a need, we hope to fill in.
Take TosaFest 5K, for example.
We know a lot of people have looked forward to that race every year, and we were just as disappointed as everyone else to hear that it wouldn't continue in 2017. So we're bringing it back in 2018. (Get the details at our race page.)
But who is MKE Runs? Well, my name is David Paulsen, and for the past five years I've had the honor of organizing Run Tosa Run on behalf of the Tosa East Towne Neighborhood Association. Our next race is coming up, May 19, so check it out at runtosarun.org.
We've raised thousands of dollars for Ronald McDonald House Charities through that 5K and kids' run, and it couldn't be done without a great team of volunteers, especially fellow East Tosan runner Jason Broadwell, who is now part of the team bringing back TosaFest 5K this year.
My experience also comes from working with some of the top race companies in southern Wisconsin, including Absolute Race Timing, which has timed Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon the last two years. I've helped Jodi and Dirk set up their gear to time various races since 2015. They're good people.
I also spent a year providing marketing and grassroots promotional services for Vision Event Management's cycle of three big races in the Milwaukee area: Drumstick Dash, Lucky Leprechaun and Rock 'n Sole.
Jeff Graves and his team are good people, too, and know how to stage a professional, high-volume race.
When you don't see me around Tosa pulling together this year's TosaFest 5K, you might catch me out on a long run, training for the Spring Chance BQ.2 Marathon in the Chicago area. (Running Grandma's Marathon last year was a joy, but no BQ there.)
